Bio:  Squall is very much the serious type.  It takes a lot to get him to smile and really the only pony who could make him do it on a regular basis was his wife, Morning Dew, whom he met by getting a bucket of water dumped on his head.  He has a lot of trouble relating to other ponies and while he tried to relate to his sons he didn't do that well.  

A short while after Silver Lining was born he was called away.  A large storm that had formed at sea was encroaching upon the town.  Many pegasi were called in to take care of the storm but Red Squall was the leader of the group.  

He never returned.
